Polskie Radio SA since 1925 allows all Polish people an access
to national and international culture goods as well as science, it
educates and informs creating a community of language, ideas and values.
Polish Radio in its programmes presents a various offer of topics.
Apart from informative and specialist services it broadcasts
journalistic, popular-scientific, educational, social, religious and
patriotic programmes as well as programmes giving advices, programmes
concerning health and family. It offers also entertainment, satiric and
cabaret programmes. As to music, the radio presents almost all genres.
Polish Radio is also the biggest and most available concert hall –
thanks to our broadcasts music lovers can take part in the most
significant music events in all philharmonics and operas in the whole
world.
A vast variety of programmes is presented on four national
stations – Jedynka, Dwójka, Trójka and the most innovative of them -
Czwórka – Radio z Wizją, which broadcasts also as television. The offer
is completed by a programme for foreigners which has 7 language
redactions and two foreign language websites:
www.nachrichten.pl and
www.thenews.pl,
which was renounced by “The Economist” as the best information source
about Poland in English. Polish Radio also offers a full news broadcast
from Poland and from the whole world. Informacyjna Agencja Radiowa
offers text audio service 24 hours a day as well as a specialist
documentation within the fields of politics, economy, history and
culture. Polish Radio has been organising Science Picnic for 11 years,
since 2008 in co-operation with Copernicus Science Centre.

conducts modern science communication through interactive exhibitions
addressed to different groups of recipients (adults, adolescents and
children), shows and workshops on scientific themes, debates and
discussions as well as activities from the borderland of science and
art. The mission of the Centre is to inspire curiosity, assist the
independent discovering of the world, help to learn and inspire social
dialogue on science. It is one of the largest and most modern
institutions of this type in Europe.
The first module of the
Centre building was opened on 5 November 2010 along with five galleries
(On the move, Humans and the environment, Roots of civilization,
Lightzone, Bzzz!); RE: generation - gallery for the young adults was
opened 3 March 2011; the second module along with laboratories and
Discovery Park will be available to the public as of 2011.
The
Copernicus Science Centre has the status of a cultural institution that
was established and is funded by the Capital City of Warsaw, Ministry of
Science and Higher Education and Ministry of National Education.
